Cloisonne' Vitreous Enamel Jewelry

Classic glass on metal jewelry, very labor intensive and a little fickle. Cloisonnes (walls) thin strips of metal are placed on a metal surface, covered with powdered glass enamel and fired in a kiln. Colors are built-up with repeated firings. The process was invented about 1,000 years ago. Only the kilns have really changed.
